Relationships are at the heart of human interaction, but even those which seem to be running smoothly will face their fair share of hiccups. One of the worst things you can do within a partnership is harbor grudges. There will be moments where are you profoundly disagree about certain things, and end up falling out. A healthy relationship will flourish if the default position is for you to show your good side rather than any less positive attributes, such as selfishness or jealousy. We all have flaws, but it’s important to be able to recognize these within ourselves and be able to put them in perspective. When it comes to making the most of your relationship, always resolve to show compassion. Consider how your partner would describe you to others. Would they shrug and say you have certain bad points which they’re prepared to endure for the sake of protecting your happiness? Or are they far more likely to wax lyrical about your positive qualities, painting a picture of someone with an excellent personality?

Know and respect each other’s boundaries

For any relationship to work, it’s certainly important for the individuals within a couple to enjoy equal status. This means you should know and be aware of boundaries. If there are times where if you or your partner would prefer to go off and do your own thing, then that’s fine. To feel any sense of possessiveness would be an unhealthy option. Rather, anticipate the moment when you have reunited again.
